Privacy policy.

The short version

We collect two things: the email address of anyone who subscribes to our research, and whatever you choose to send us through the contact form. We use them to send research and to reply to you. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising trackers, and this website sets no tracking cookies of its own.

What we collect, and why

• Email subscriptions. Your email address and any name you provide, together with normal email engagement data such as whether a message was opened or a link clicked. We use this to send reports and investigations and to understand whether they are read. The legal basis is your consent, given when you subscribed.
• Contact form. Your name, email address, company, phone number if you provide one, the subject you select, and your message. We use this to respond to your enquiry and to keep a record of the conversation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, and steps taken at your request before any engagement.
• Server logs. Our host records standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Who processes data for us

• Netlify hosts this website and receives contact form submissions and server logs.
• beehiiv operates our email list and stores subscriber addresses and engagement data.

Both are United States companies acting as processors on our behalf under their own terms and privacy notices. Personal data of readers outside the United States is therefore transferred to and stored in the United States.

Cookies and embedded content

This website sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts are served from this website rather than a third party.

Some pages embed LinkedIn posts. When such a page loads, those embeds load from LinkedIn, which receives your IP address and browser information and may set its own cookies under LinkedIn's privacy policy. We do not control that, and we receive no data from it. To avoid it, block third-party cookies in your browser or read those posts on LinkedIn directly.

How long we keep it

Subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and inactive subscribers are removed periodically. Contact form submissions are kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting relationship, and are then deleted in the ordinary course. Server logs are kept for the short period our host retains them.

Your rights

Every email we send contains an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately.

Wherever you live, you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to complain to your national supervisory authority. Send requests through the contact form and we will respond within one month.

Changes

We may update this policy by posting a revised version on this page with a new date.
